Sculpture Repairs

Katherine repairs sculptures in stone, resin, plaster and ceramic, she also restores stone antique furniture such as bowls, tables and light shades.

She draws on her sculptural skills and what she has learnt as an architectural stone carver and stone mason to restore ornate, figurative and abstract sculptures.

Carving new parts either by inserting a piece of stone or by dropping the original back and reshaping.

Rebuilding friable/damaged parts with resin, stone dust and lime mortar.

She is experienced in bonding cracked, damaged pieces together whilst hiding the repair using coloured pigments to match the original material as closely as possible.

She repairs all types of stone such as marble, alabaster, soap stone and can replicate natural veining and colour variations in the stone to hide the repair. 

She can restore an antique stone back to its original colour. Stones can get dark and grimy over time and loose their original colour, this can be found again with gentle abrasion of the surface.

All stone sculptures will be returned to their owner with a courtesy wax/polish.

An almost invisible repair to a soap stone otter sculpture that’s neck had broken off.

A white alabaster stone dove and its broken wing installed onto a new slate plinth, plaster and resin otters whose fragile paws, feet and tail had broken off, antique alabaster bowl that had broken in several parts.
