THE ART WORKERS GUILD - 6 Queen Square, London, WC1N 3AT
Katherine is a London-based award winning architectural and figurative stone carver/sculptor, letter carver and mason. Her 18 years of carving have led her to work on many prestigious restoration projects on buildings and figurative monuments. She also carves commemorative plaques and installs new church furnishings such as altars. She was elected a member of the Art Workers Guild in 2007 , proposed by the renowned stone carver Dick Reid OBE and former master of the Art Workers Guild. She was seconded by Assheton Gorton who was an English production designer and nominated for an Academy Award for the film The French Lieutenant's Woman.
The Guild is a society of artists, craftsmen and designers with a common interest in the interaction, development and distribution of creative skills. It represents a variety of views on design and stands for authenticity (irrespective of political and stylistic ideology) in a world increasingly uncertain about what is real. Founded originally in the 1880's by a group of English architects associated with the ideas of William Morris and the leading personalities of the Arts and Crafts movement.
