2009 - Elmdon Church graveyard, Essex, UK
With this gravestone the client was an architect and provided a full design with modern inscription and font. Katherine advised on letter carving practicalities and was allowed to draw on her creativity for the hand carving of the apple and pear. The apple and pear leaning into each other depicts the closeness of the sisters.

Hand carved gravestone - cemetery Apple and pear - sisters Stone letter carving
Katherine really enjoyed her two year college diploma in letter carving. She has designed and carved by hand many bespoke gravestones for clients looking for a more personal approach to a memorial for a loved one. She embellishes the inscriptions with uniquely carved designs; often of things that were close to their hearts or remind them of their loved ones.
She can also paint and gild letters.

Katherine likes to work with the client involving them in the creative process.
She encourages an initial visit to her London N1 workshop to discuss and view stone types, gravestone sizes, lettering fonts and design. She then listens to the client’s ideas and wishes and offers a fitting design. Ideas can be in the form of sketches, designs or pictures. These designs could be of a favourite place, hobbie, object, loved one's portrait, pet etc.
Alternatively she is happy to work to a client’s drawing offering her advise on stone.
Katherine also carves pet memorials .
Cemetery rules, regulations and installation. Katherine can advise on cemetery rules, regulations and fees. A sketch of the proposed gravestone design and inscription will need to be approved by the cemetery. She can call on registered fixers to install the gravestone.
