As part of her self employment Katherine was commissioned to carve and install a simple new Portland fireplace. The client didn't want it to be permanently installed into the current bricked fireplace in case they wish to sell the house as it was originally intended. Katherine installed it carefully, adding some new bricks behind the stone for it to be pinned to. If the client wishes to remove the stone at a later date this can easily be done without effecting the current brick fireplace. This gas fire provides good heat and the Portland stone surrounds protects from any drafts.

Katherine can carve and install bespoke and elaborate stone fireplaces and mantles. She uses her architectural stone carving and masonry skills to blend the fireplace in with the style, decorative features, and mouldings of a building. She can also carve ornate floral and figurative features on the fireplace adding letter carving and gilding. Katherine also restores original fireplaces.
She offers installation ideas, creative suggestions including modelling and design and discussions of stone types and techniques taking into account the setting and surroundings. She is also happy to work from a given design.
Katherine works on site and in her London workshop in N1, where she has ample space and machinery to handle large stones. She welcomes clients to her workshop. She welcomes large contracts for which she may engage subcontractors.
