Katherine’s welcomes Portrait commissions . They can take many forms, such as a traditional bust, full length figure or a relief incised carving or outline (similar to an etching). They can be in a range of media, stone, plaster or resin.
With Human Portraits she takes pride in achieving a striking likeness to the sitter, revealing the character of the sitter in a typical pose. For this purpose, she likes to get to know the sitter and their ideas, this normally involves one or more sittings depending on the sitter's availability. She takes measurements of the sitter's face and features. She also likes to take photographs and record movies to aid her work (this reduces the sitting time), she can take face moulds if the client wishes. She can also work from photographs alone if the sitter is not available.
She models the portrait in clay (whether this is to be the final medium or serve as a model for the finished piece). A clay model is recommended for a best likeness, because alterations can be easily made in the clay before the stone carving. A stone portrait can be carved in a variety of stones such as marble, Alabaster, Portland, Bath, Cean. A clay portrait can be cast in a variety of materials such as, bronze, stone/marble composite, plaster and resin (these can have different finishes and be coloured with pigments).
Katherine offers plinths and installation . The sculpture can stand alone, in your home or garden or form part of a larger object or building. For a relief carving it can be installed on a wall.
She can carve a bespoke plinth for a bust, statue or figure. She also offers delivery, installation and groundwork.
She can copy historical artifacts, an original carving a picture, drawing . She can also copy a sculpture exactly or to scale also adding her own style if required.
Katherine can carve or sculpt animals and pet gravestones . The same process as above applies to pets however the sitting process is reduced to the taking of pictures or a recording of a movie.
